Places To Eat Kelantanese & Nyonya Food, Malaysia
Scanned through MANY blogs and listed all the places that I will be trying the next time I go back to Malaysia. 9 more months to go :-(
Kuala Lumpur ->
* Kelantan Delights have been at KLCC
* Best Nasi Dagang at Subang Jaya. Near Lik Han Chinese Primary School. Malay Food Court (Opposite Mc Donald Restaurant).
* Songkhla Hawker located around the Chow Kit area, was first mentioned by the Fried Chillies foodsters who have done a review of this place.
* Go to the Malay Food Court behind Metrobus depot in USJ 7 (along Jalan Kewajipan heading towards Puchong about 400 meters after the Giant traffic lights on your left is the Metrobus depot) This is a haven of all kinds of Malay nasi dagang there.
* The one in Imbi is known as Happy Chef located on the same row as the Cantonese Fried noodles soo kee. Formerly he was a chef in the Sultan of Brunie's palace. Fat guy and he loves his food. The fellars nasi lemak is also good. Mixture between Kelantanese nasi dagang with cocnut milk and the sambal is good.
* Nyonya Colour stall 1 Utama, their food rocks! I ate their Otak Otak, Nasi Kunyit/Curry Chicken and Cendol. Mee Siam, AND their thai laksa, and their kuih kuih.
* Bibi Chik In Bandar Puteri Puchong b4 the review of The Star. Not bad for its Thai Style Fried Rice. It not just a plate of fried rice but included side dishes of pandan chicken, fried ikan billies, kerabu and fried tau pok. Pleasantly surprise with the price of Rm8.50 only. Its signature Nasi Lemak's rice is blue colour, made from the juice of a kind of flower.
Kelantan ->
* Zakini Nasi Kukus, an airy shop on the northern edge of town is the place to go for nasi kukus (steamed rice). Zakini Nasi Kukus, Jalan Wakaf Mek Zainab, on the north side of the street about halfway between Jalans Atas Banggol and Kebun Sultan, Kota Baru. 11am-ish to 11pm.
* Restaurant Kwang Ling along Jalan Post Office Lama in Kota Bharu and their versions of Nasi Berlauk and Nasi Dagang has been featured in local food guides in magazines and even on telly! They do sell other hawker food such as fish ball noodles (where all fish balls / fish cake are homemade), curry noodles, prawn noodles etc. but its their Nasi Dagang that gets sold out quickly,
Kuala Terengganu ->
Restoran Nasi Kerabu is a cheerful, modern café near the federal government office in Kuala Terengganu serving Kelantanese-style food.
